Television Contributions

Mustapha Matura has contributed to, written and directed several television productions throughout his career.

‘No Problem’: 1978 – The highly successful series ‘No Problem!’ was a joint project between Black Theatre Co-Operative (which he founded in 1978 with Charlie Hanson) and London Weekend Television/Channel Four.

‘There’s Something Wrong In Paradise’: The 1984 – Scripted Kid Creole’s Christmas Spectacular, ‘There’s Something Wrong In Paradise’ for Granada TV.

‘Nice’: 1984: Monologue about a “nice” West Indian and his descent into postcolonial cynicism, performed by the legendary Norman Beaton.

OTHER CREDITS INCLUDE

‘Party at the Palace’: 1983 – Mustapha wrote for the LWT/C4’s ‘Party at the Palace’, a live show and the British entry for Montreux in 1984.

Black Silk: 1985 – Mustapha devised and wrote, in collaboration with Rudy Narayan, the BBC series ‘Black Silk’.
